The Danuvina Alacris at Carnuntum
The Danuvina Alacris, the authentic replica of a Roman patrol boat from the 4th century, is currently sailing on the Danube as part of the ReConnectiong Cruise. For this reason, there will be special guided tours at the Carnuntinum Museum on Saturday and Sunday, which will deal specifically with military and trade on the Danube Limes.
UPDATE: Due to the rising Danube level, the Danuvina Alacris cannot dock in Bad Deutsch-Altenburg as planned and will instead dock at the pier in the municipality of Hainburg Donau on Saturday (October 12, 2024 at 15:00)!
For our program, this means that we will start at 13:00 with the game stations in the Museum Carnuntinum and at 14:30 (!) A shuttle bus will leave from the museum to Hainburg and return to Bad Deutsch-Altenburg at around 15:30, so that all interested parties can follow the arrival in Hainburg live!
On Sunday, the Danuvina and its crew will set off at around 10:00 a.m. to cross the national border further downstream. In Devín (Bratislava), she will be welcomed with a large Roman festival and officially handed over to the Slovakian Municipal Monument Preservation Institute (MMPIB) (planned arrival time: 12:00 noon).
